Adult neuro-oncology is a branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and management of cancers of the brain and spinal cord in adults, as well as the management of neurologic effects of cancer and its treatment. It is focused on primary tumors that originate in the nervous system as well as secondary tumors that have migrated from other parts of the body to affect the brain. This specialized branch of medicine includes a multidisciplinary team of neuropathology, medical oncology, neurosurgery, radiation therapy, radiology, pain management, rehabilitation, palliative care, cognitive management and hospice, to provide overall care.
